The BAPE x NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas Capsule Goes Global in This Week's Footwear Drops

The last seven days saw some heavy-hitting sneaker releases including Nike‘s anticipated 2019 “On Air” collection, dedicated to six bustling metropolises around the world, and a similar pack coming from adidas and its Nite Jogger silhouette.

BAPE returned with colorful BAPESTA options for Spring/Summer 2019, while GOLF le FLEUR* and Converse released three luxe options as part of their “Faux Skin” collection. Other collaborative models that landed in stores included the basketball-inspired Pyer Moss x Reebok “Mobius Experiment 3,” the have a good time x Reebok Aztrek, and the Overkill x adidas Consortium ZX10000C. What’s more is that Vans also paid homage to British icon Davide Bowie.

UNDERCOVER, has teamed up with British footwear purveyor Dr. Martens on a set of shoes dubbed “The New Warriors” collection. Utilizing the latter’s Edition 1460 Boots and Edition 1461 Derbys, each model has been crafted using the finest smooth leather. White “The New Warriors” text has been printed on the vamp, while its circular “NW” insignia can be found at the top ankle on the boot and outer heel on the Derby. Coming in three colorways of “Black,” “Navy” or “Cherry Red,” signature yellow stitching and a tan Air Cushion rubber sole completes the look of each option.

UNDERCOVER also linked with Nike for two reworked SFB Mountain silhouettes. Available in triple-black or a “Obsidian/University Red” color scheme, the trail-ready models are packed full of technical features and utilitarian stylings, from its “The New Warriors”-embroidered strapped upper and advanced lacing system, to its speckled midsole and aggressive outsole.

LeBron James‘ signature Nike LeBron 16 pays homage to ’90s sitcom Martin in this week’s releases. Dressed in vibrant hues of “royal purple,” yellow and orange, reminiscent of the show’s opening logo theme, the shoe also sports Martin Lawrence‘s catchphrases highlighted on the heel portion. Other standout details include the doubled up laces, a reworked Crown logo on the tongues, and graphic detailing on the lower heel.

UK-based retailer Oi Polloi and sportswear mainstay Reebok have once again joined forces to rework the latter’s Workout Clean MU. J.W. Anderson and Converse continue their collaborative efforts with the release of a retro Americana-inspired collection. The first silhouette spotlighted is the J.W. Anderson x Converse Grid, which has been reinterpreted in patriotic fashion. The second silhouette, the J.W. Anderson x Converse Run Hike, is decked out in a black colorway with contrasting white stitching, and stars an exaggerated EVA midsole with a rugged outsole.

Having thus far only released in select retailers in Hong Kong and Japan, the BAPE x NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas Originals “NHBAPE® POD S-3.1” and NMD STLT will now be receiving a wider release. The two-pair capsule includes a revamped NMD STLT embellished with graphic tape patterns on its upper, while white “BAPE,” “NBHD” and “東京” (Tokyo) motifs are showcased on both the tongue and heel tab. The POD S-3.1 “NHBAPE” is split down the middle with the medial side showcasing a grey/white camo print, while the lateral portion is dressed in black/purple camo. Both patterns are then injected with BAPE’s signature Ape head and NEIGHBORHOOD’s skull-and-cross-bones insignias.

The GEL-Sokat Infinity sneaker has inspired the latest pair up between Kiko Kostadinov and ASICS. Influenced by Tug of War, (its name is a Basque translation), the GEL-Sokat Infinity is the first sneaker to come equipped with a full GELTM midsole. Other features include a full-length GEL-QUANTUM INFINITY tooling for cushioning, a water ripple graduation on the underside for durability, and the ASICS Spiral logo found on both the lateral and medial sides. The Kiko Kostadinov x ASICS GEL-Sokat Infinity sneaker will be available in three different colorways of “Pepper Mint/Forest Green,” “Lavender Grey/Purple Plumeria” and “Dark Grey.”

sacai’s reworked Nike Blazer first caught the sneaker world’s attention when it made its debut on the runways of Paris last year. Playing on the theme of doubles, sacai’s leading lady Chitose Abe playfully incorporates twice as many details found on the classic Nike silhouette, such as the Swoosh insignias, heel counters, tongue tabs and color-contrasting laces, to give this eclectic pair an eye-catching patchwork-esque look. Elsewhere the Blazer’s vulcanized toe extends into the midsole and quarter panels where it eventually climbs up the Nike x sacai co-branded heel.

Trying to breathe a bit of life back into its lifestyle NMD lineup, adidas is debuting two new CS1 Primeknit models in a predominately “Cloud White” and “Core Black” outfit. The “Core Black” iteration sees the dark colorway dressing almost everything right down to its BOOST-assisted midsole. White contrasting details then come in on the large lateral “NMD” branding and the EVA plugs located on the heel. “Cloud White” features all the same aforementioned details, however taking on a mirrored look.

The collaborative YZY DSRT BT from the minds of adidas and Kanye West returns this week in a stealthy “Oil” colorway. The Nike Air Wildwood ACG returns this week in two neutral colorways. On one-hand, khaki and dark shades of brown swath the model, while black can be found on the laces and inner liner. Additionally, pops of “Royal Blue” come in on the lateral and medial Swoosh branding along with the “Nike Air” motifs on the back heels and “ACG” logo on the tongue tabs. The other model is dressed in crisp white from its upper all the way down to its midsole. Slight beige Swoosh branding and black accents on the laces, inner liner and heel counter then adds a bit of variation to the demure color palette.
