BlocBoy JB Delivers Debut Studio Album 'FatBoy'
Featuring G Herbo, Trippie Redd, Yo Gotti, NLE Choppa and some serious Fat Albert vibes.
It’s a little hard to believe that it’s already been over two years since Memphis, Tennessee rapper BlocBoy JB‘s infamous “Shoot Dance” took the world by storm resulting in a high-profile Fortnite feature and subsequent lawsuit against the gaming giant. Now some 100 million YouTube views, Drake and 21 Savage features and a major label deal later, BlocBoy JB returns with his debut studio album FatBoy.
BlocBoy’s latest is heavily influenced by Fat Albert lore and spans 17 songs and 40 minutes with features from G Herbo, Trippie Redd, Yo Gotti and NLE Choppa with production by Tay Keith and HitKidd. The project follows his strong 2019 effort I Am Me and 2018’s Simi.
He kicked off the album with singles like “Swervin” and his “No Chorus Pt. 12” featuring Tay Keith. BlocBoy also held fans over earlier this year with a cover of JACKBOYS’ “Out West” and his “Silly Watch Freestyle.” Highlights include his LeBron James shoutout and homage to fatherhood, “Bronny & Bron” and “ChopBloc Pt. 3” with NLE Choppa. As for the “FatBoy” music video, it’s a must watch with BlocBoy taking on the role of Fat Albert and breaking out some hilarious dance moves. His dedication to the character pays off.
