Channel Tres Offers Some Quarantine-Tinged Optimism With New "Skate Depot" Music Video
From the artist’s upcoming ‘I Can’t Go Outside’ mixtape.
Compton, California’s own Channel Tres returns with his latest single, “Skate Depot,” the first release from his upcoming mixtape I Can’t Go Outside. The title is an homage to the fact that everyone continues to live under coronavirus quarantine but injects some optimism through an upbeat house groove inspired by times spent on the roller rink. The new Mancy Gant-directed music video is tinged with nostalgia, following the musician as he skates through the sunny Los Angeles streets.
According to a recent press release, Channel’s “pent-up frustrations have culminated in a self-reflective mixtape, his most vulnerable project yet. The first single is an ode to the late Skate Depot rink in Cerritos, California where Channel held his first job (he was let go two weeks later for not being a good enough skater.)”
“Skate Depot” follows his Black Moses EP which featured contributions from JPEGMAFIA. Earlier this year, Channel Tres teamed up with Disclosure for “Lavender” and remixed Joji’s “Gimme Love” following his official rework of Tyler, The Creator‘s “EARFQUAKE.” He also offered up a bouncy new single in “Weedman” back in March.
