Serving as the follow-up to her UK number-one record This Is How Tomorrow Moves, the 14-track project marks a distinct musical evolution for the singer-songwriter, introducing a harsher, more direct sonic palette inspired by classic grunge, midwest emo and ’90s radio rock. Named after the electricity towers that line major global highways, the album symbolizes both the waves of distortion running through the tracklist and the intense feelings of isolation Laus experienced while on tour. The title reflects the project’s themes of distance, connection and emotional instability, framing Pylon as a record shaped by both movement and solitude.
Coinciding with the album announcement, beabadoobee has shared the project’s leading single, “Sun Has Set,” alongside an accompanying music video. Capturing a raw, journal-entry style of songwriting, the track serves as a fierce declaration of unsaid grievances, delivering what Laus describes as a “petty tunnel vision” directed at those who wronged her.
