Headie One Delivers Star-Studded New Album 'EDNA'

Headie One is on a roll. The 26-year-old Tottenham, North London rapper kicked off the year with his GANG mixtape alongside Fred again.., a project that was among HYPEBEAST’s “25 Best Albums of 2020… So Far”. Now he returns with his latest solo effort, EDNA, a sprawling and emotional 20-song release named after and dedicated to his late mother.

Headie One kicked off his ninth album’s rollout with the surprise release of his “Only You Freestyle” featuring Drake, which also came with a major co-sign from the Toronto superstar. “I had to go hard, especially on a track with one of the best drill artists in the world,” Drake stated. “Scratch that — the best drill artist in the world.”

The tracklist only got more ambitious from there. On EDNA, Headie One taps Stormzy and AJ Tracey for “Ain’t It Different”. Future shines on “Hear No Evil” while Skepta highlights “Try Me.” Headie also makes sure to shine a light on the ever-growing talent pool the UK hip-hop scene offers with nods to Aitch, Haile, Mahalia, Kaash Paige, M Huncho, Young T and Bugsey.
