Golden Goose's 'Dad-Star' Is a Worn Out Luxury Sneaker
Arriving in “Blue/Silver” and “Red/Gold” colorways.
Italian label Golden Goose has added a new trainer silhouette to its popular footwear line-up, launching the ‘Dad-Star’ sneaker on October 9 in celebration of Sneakers Day. The ‘Dad-Star’ pays homage to the evolution of the sneaker as a whole – a humble sports shoe to a must-have fashion item – dismantling pre-existing archetypes in the fashion and luxury worlds.
The ‘Dad-Star’ features an iconic design from the ’90s, combining a vintage silhouette with innovative materials for a versatile and on-trend look. The style has stayed true to the design philosophy of Golden Goose, maintaining all key elements such as the signature star emblem decorating the sides, the exposed foam on the tongue and the strong distressing treatment.
Coming in two colorways – a ‘Silver’ and a ‘Gold’ iteration – the styles use monochromatic panels of clashing textures alongside unique complimenting finishes. Laminated leather and ballistic nylon combine on the upper and are harmonised with contrasting silver hi-vis reflective inserts. Other features include colorful eyestays – blue for the ‘Silver’ version and red for the ‘Gold’ – and a yellowed effect on the midsole that recalls the brand’s native idea of hanging the sneakers in the sunlight to obtain the characteristic vintage shade of the foxing.
The ‘Dad-Star’ sneaker will release exclusively on the Golden Goose Passport App with a first limited drop today, October 9, followed by a second drop expected to launch on the brand’s website later that month.
