KFC Opens Virtual Restaurant in 'Animal Crossing: New Horizons'
Take a tour given by virtual Colonel Sanders.
Ever since March when Nintendo first released Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the game has become an instant hit, securing its place as a true cultural phenomenon and quickly becoming the fastest-selling title for the console. Various companies and brands have seized the opportunity to create engaging experiences with the game: from releasing entire streetwear collections and creating virtual museum tours to becoming stages for interviews and podcasts as well as hosting art exhibitions, everyone has found a unique way to enjoy the game. Now, joining the bundle of fun is Kentucky Fried Chicken Philippines, which created its very own virtual restaurant on its island.
Taking to Twitter, the fast food chain posted a video of a virtual Colonel Sanders giving a tour of the island, which has been highly decorated and terraformed to re-create one of the franchise’s restaurants. No detail has been missed, including themed booths and chairs, menus with real-life menu items, and outdoor entertainment areas. The island’s code will be posted on KFC Philippines’ Twitter account occasionally, allowing lucky players to visit the island, and those who manage to find virtual Colonel Sanders can even win a free eight-piece meal.
Check out the island in the video below, and follow KFC Philippines’ Twitter for a chance to visit the virtual restaurant.
Elsewhere in gaming, Riot Games has announced a global Valorant esports tournament.
