The Pokémon Company has confirmed that Pokémon Unite will officially shut down in March 2027. The five-on-five multiplayer online battle arena title will close its servers on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC (March 22 at 8:00 PM ET), concluding a nearly six-year live-service run.
Developed alongside Tencent’s TiMi Studios, the free-to-play MOBA originally launched on Nintendo Switch in July 2021 before rolling out to mobile devices with full cross-platform matchmaking. The impending shutdown follows an earlier indication in July, when The Pokémon Company removed the title from the 2027 Pokémon World Championships in favor of an independent Tokyo tournament that will begin qualifiers this December.
With the closure announced, in-game sales of gems, new Unite Club memberships, and subscription auto-renewals have been terminated immediately. Players can continue spending previously acquired gems until the final cutoff, and existing memberships will remain active through their standard expiration dates. A final update featuring a farewell event is scheduled for November 12, alongside a new Library feature allowing users to locally download and view select in-game inventory before the servers permanently go dark.
