Snow Peak Celebrates Ancient Techniques With Yamai Line
Consisting of unique pieces produced using mud and ink dyeing.
Snow Peak has unveiled a small patch of one-of-a-kind items produced using ancient techniques. The Yamai line takes its name from Lisa Yamai who designed the collection — and who’s father, Yukio, founded the label — and features pieces created using textiles and makers from around the world.
The techniques used have been influenced by craftspeople in Japan, West Bengal, Nepal and Peru. The focus throughout the collection is on slow and thoughtful production, with items produced using natural woven fabrics and dyed using ink and mud dying techniques.

Stand-out items in the unisex collection include the Hand-Woven C/L jacket — featuring a flat collar, button-down front and a boxy fit — as well as the Cotton Silk Shirt dyed with calligraphy ink and the Gauze Cardigan, which is delicately woven on an old-fashioned shuttle loom.
