Nike Sportswear‘s Air Force 1 is a sturdy silhouette that earned its stripes in city streets, and now it’s set out to conquer backcountry trails with 3 new Nike ACG-style makeups. Following up a ACG-adjacent black pair that released in recent weeks, this trio uses a combo of earthy bases and cheerful, bright accents that call to mind images of early ’90s outdoor classics like the Mowabb.
From a material standpoint, each iteration combines a suede forefoot and midfoot with a synthetic ripstop heel. Various tan tones abound on all 3 uppers, but a “Hyper Crimson” pair deviates from the norm by using a hi-vis orange on the heel. Swooshes range in color from a soft pink to a cool ocean blue and a hot red. Further embellishments are provided by everything from periwinkle to black and dark navy tongues, throats and heel overlays, with flecked laces adding extra texture.
The inspiration doesn’t end at with the palettes, however. Both heel tabs and tongue tags put forth a skewed Swoosh graphic, nodding to the inherently playful nature of the outdoor sub-label’s original products. Mountain graphics are printed on the insoles, and a “Hike Man” hang tag dressed in corresponding colors accompanies each pair as well. Classic rubber midsoles and outsoles finalize the history-filled look.
All 3 of these ACG-themed AF1s are available via the Nike webstore now, and retail for $110 USD.
