Steve From 'Minecraft' Joins the 'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate' Roster
Fighters Pass Vol. 2’s second fighter has arrived.
Nintendo has unveiled that Steve From Minecraft will join the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate lineup. The Microsoft character serves as the second character introduced for the Nintendo Switch game’s Fighter Pass Vol. 2 DLC currently available, where four other fighters are slated to be announced at a later date.
The trailer above showcases Steve entering the fray against a shocked Mario as viewers are whisked away into a showcase of the character’s unique abilities and his Minecraft-inspired level. Steve can be swapped out for Alex or Enderman, and each character retains the ability to use their pickaxe, swords, and TNT from their original game as attacks. The director of Super Smash Bros. Masahiro Sakurai explained how capturing the Minecraft aesthetic proved to be challenging for the developers. “We have to rework all our existing stages so that blocks can be placed in them,” Sakurai said.
Although there is currently no release date for the character, the Fighter Pass Vol. 2 DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now as an add-on for $24.99 USD, where characters like Banjo-Kazooie, Joker from Persona 5, and Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard are already available to play as.
