'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood' Trailer Features Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers
America’s dad portrays the beloved TV personality.
Following a very responsive reaction to the casting, the official trailer for the upcoming Mr. Rogers biopic A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood starring Tom Hanks has surfaced. The preview above showcases Hanks as Mr. Rogers and introduces a magazine writer Junod (Matthew Rhys) assigned to write a profile about him. As the course of the film progresses, however, the two begin to form a real-life friendship.
According to Sony Pictures, Beautiful Day is “a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. After a jaded magazine writer (Emmy winner Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about empathy, kindness, and decency from America’s most beloved neighbor.” Sony Pictures’ biopic follows the critically acclaimed Won’t You Be My Neighbor documentary, which examines Roger’s beautiful, yet complicated life as a children’s TV personality.
