Nike Air Max 1 "Bronze Eclipse" Features a Stately Houndstooth Pattern
A sartorial take on the classic Air Max silhouette.
Nike‘s ever-popular Air Max 1 has appeared in a new “Bronze Eclipse” colorway that blends earthy brown tones with elegant tweed patterns. Offering a look that seems to draw heavily from the worlds of suiting and traditional menswear, this new style from Nike Sportswear is a sartorial take on the Tinker Hatfield-designed classic.
The upper’s base layer takes on a stately traditional white and black houndstooth pattern that’s spread from the toebox to the heel. While the mudguard and midfoot Swoosh are equipped with a simple brown suede, the remainder of the overlays use a shaggy mohair-like material. This scratchy-yet-sturdy construction conjures images of rugged overcoats that would make even the most grizzled haberdasher proud. The sartorially inclined stylings continue on the tongue, which boasts an eggshell white hue and provides vibrant pops of flair by way of an orange tongue badge/top eyestays.
Meanwhile, the bottom half is all about contrast. The same eggshell white from the tongue is present on the midsole, which houses a naturally tinted Air Max cushioning unit. A tried-and-true gum outsole completes the look.
This new Air Max 1 will release on December 9 via Nike SNKRS. The MSRP is set at $120 USD.
