Michael B. Jordan Tries to Save Jamie Foxx from Death Row in New 'Just Mercy' Trailer
Based on a true story.
Warner Bros. Pictures has just released a new trailer for Just Mercy, starring Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Foxx. Directed by filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton, the film serves as an adaptation of defense attorney Bryan Stevenson’s (portrayed by Jordan on-screen) memoir Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption, which follows the harkening trail of Walter McMillian.
The film will follow the true story of Stevenson and McMillian as they battle an Alabama court against the latter’s wrongful conviction of murdering an 18-year-old girl. “Despite a preponderance of evidence proving his innocence, Bryan becomes embroiled in a labyrinth of legal and political maneuverings and overt and unabashed racism as he fights for Walter, and others like him, with the odds— and the system—stacked against them,” according to the plot’s official synopsis.
The cast also includes Brie Larson, Rob Morgan, Tim Blake Nelson, Rafe Spall, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Karan Kendrick.
Check out the trailer above, and catch Just Mercy when it arrives in theaters on December 25, 2019.
