Kenya Barris Details Kid Cudi's 'Entergalactic' Album & Netflix Series
Each song will have a 30-minute episode.

Earlier this year, Kid Cudi caused a stir with the announcement of his next album, Entergalactic, noting that the project would have an accompanying Netflix animated series executive produced by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris. Detailed as an adult animated series about a young man’s journey to find love, the Barris-penned show will be released alongside his production company, Khalabo Ink Society. Recently appearing on Complex’s “Watch Less” podcast, he shared what fans can expect from Cudi’s forthcoming endeavor.
“It’s the craziest thing in terms of TV. It’s the most ambitious thing. It also shows who he is as an artist…we started talking and he’s a huge fan of animation and that notion of animation lasts forever,” Barris shared. He equally spoke on the project’s concept: “The idea of there’s never been an album and a series dropped at the same time, so each song will have a 30-minute narrative…a youthful love story told through Cudi’s music.”
Outside of noting that each song would have an accompanying episode, he shared that the musical component is an “amazing album.” He noted that Ty Dolla $ign has a “crazy collab” on the project before casually name dropping Gucci Mane as a feature. “He’s still working on it now. He has the basis of every episode, but he’s gonna do more music. We did it specifically for this series. We really let the music drive the creative, but there’s moments in the creative where Cudi will say like, ‘I want the song to take this turn,’” Barris shared.
