As a sweltering July rolls towards its sweaty end, the world’s biggest footwear brands are making sure the heat keeps on coming. Over the next seven days, we’ll see choice releases from Nike, Jordan Brand, Converse, New Balance and ASICS plus a huge restock event from adidas YEEZY, but before we dive into this week’s installment of Weekly Footwear Drops let’s make sure we’re caught up on last week first.

HYPEBEAST had an eventful week on the footwear feature front, chatting with chief Nike designer John Hoke about the Swoosh’s most advanced running shoes and also talking with Rick Owens about his new Converse collaboration. The latest guest on Sole Mates was Collegium founder Nick Sisombath, who shared his love of the Supreme x Nike Blazer.

Moving to the day-to-day, Nike news ran a gamut of topics. It was revealed that the brand may be facing a sneaker shortage due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on its Vietnamese factories, and it sued a former employee turned customizer over his Amazon-inspired Air Jordan 1 Mids. We were given on-foot looks at the KAWS x sacai x Nike Blazer Low in both blue and red, got a first glimpse of the Drake x Nike Air Force 1 “Certified Lover Boy” and saw the Dover Street Market x Nike Dunk Low in black velour. Rounding things off for the Swoosh were Patta’s duo of wavy mudguard-equipped Air Max 1s and shots of a duo of SB Dunk Highs — namely the Supreme x Nike SB Dunk High “By Any Means” in navy/red and the Gundam x Nike SB Dunk High “Project Unicorn” in white.

Jordan Brand had a busy week as well, and its most expensive piece of news was freshly-minted NBA Champion P.J. Tucker showing off a $250K USD Air Jordan 1, complete with a full diamond Swoosh. We also saw a sample iteration of the fragment design x Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1, the bubblegum-inspired Air Jordan 1 “Atmosphere,” the Air Jordan 1 “Handcrafted,” the Air Jordan 3 “Pine Green” and the Eastside Golf x Air Jordan 4 G, the links-ready model’s first-ever collaboration.

Last but not least, adidas announced “YEEZY Day,” a celebration of Kanye West‘s footwear line full of restocks and new releases. Looks at the YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “MX Rock” and YEEZY FOAM RNNR “Cream Clay” were provided, Converse debuted a humorous “commercial” with Tyler, The Creator, Virgil Abloh announced he’d be raffling off hand-signed Off-White™ x Converse Chuck 70 His for charity and Balenciaga dropped a chunky, distressed Runner sneaker.

Now that you’re up to speed, let’s get into this week’s best releases. See a hand-picked list of 10 drops below, and peep more footwear styles on HBX when you’re done.

Rick Owens DRKSHDW x Converse TURBODRK Chuck 70 Collection

Release Date: July 27
Release Price: TBC
Where to Buy: Converse
Why You Should Cop: Rick Owens loves to “distort the ubiquitous” (his own words) and he’s done just that on the Rick Owens DRKSHDW x Converse TURBODRK Chuck 70. Using blocky toe molds and enormous high-top cuts, Owens’ Hi and Ox duo of Chuck 70s supply avant-garde takes on one of the most seminal sneakers of all time.

UNDERCOVER x Nike Dunk High 1985 “Gym Red”

Release Date: July 28
Release Price: $150 USD
Where to Buy: Nike SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: UNDERCOVER and Nike’s Dunk High 1985 is a key product from their “Undercover Basketball Association” collection. Boasting a varsity-inspired “Gym Red” and black color scheme and even a cut that’s 1:1 to Dunks from 1985, the “Gym Red” is a detailed salute to the onetime basketball shoe’s evolution.

Jaden Smith x New Balance Vision Racer “Trippy Summer” Pack

Release Date: July 28
Release Price: $150 USD
Where to Buy: New Balance and HBX
Why You Should Cop: Jaden Smith and New Balance’s Vision Racer is definitely no stranger to wild colorways, but the two makeups in the “Trippy Summer” pack are some of its loudest yet. Inspired by warm, bright summers and the vibrancy of nature, each style tells its tale in a different way: one features a gradient fade on its thick sole, the other bold colorblocking on its upper.

fragment design x Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1

Release Date: July 29
Release Price: $200 USD
Where to Buy: Travis Scott’s webstore
Why You Should Cop: We can’t say with certainty that the fragment design x Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 is releasing this week, but as it’s one of the year’s biggest releases we can’t leave it off the list either. A July 29th release date has been tossed around for months, and although it’s still pending official confirmation from Scott, fragment or the Swoosh, if it is indeed correct we’ll see the arrival of a shoe that’s nothing short of a hype whirlwind.

AMBUSH x Nike Dunk High “Flash Lime”

Release Date: July 30
Release Price: $180 USD
Where to Buy: Nike SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: AMBUSH’s recent run of Nike Dunk High collaborations offers a style that’s equal parts motorcross and basketball, so the race-ready style displayed on the “Flash Lime” fits perfectly into that ethos. By combining a bright yellow leather upper with black, rubberized, tailpipe-inspired swooshes, AMBUSH co-founder Yoon Ahn has crafted one of the week’s most visually striking drops.

Shop Nice Kicks x ASICS GEL-Lyte III “Nice Cream”

Release Date: July 30
Release Price: $130 USD
Where to Buy: Shop Nice Kicks
Why You Should Cop: A sugary collaborative style inspired by a trip to the ice cream parlor, the Shop Nice Kicks x ASICS GEL-LYTE III “Nice Cream” is ideal for any sneakerhead with a sweet tooth. Besides its clever nickname, it offers a brown sugar-like mix of tones on its upper, offset with vibrant teal laces and a cherry lace deubre. Make it a double? We think so.

Parra x Nike SB Dunk Low “Abstract Art”

Release Date: July 31
Release Price: $110 USD
Where to Buy: Nike SNKRS and The Berrics Canteen
Why You Should Cop: Artist Piet Parra and Nike have quite the collaborative history, so it seems only fitting that Parra would be tapped to design the Swoosh’s first set of skate federation kits for the Olympic games. His SB Dunk Low “Abstract Art” follows the same ethos as these kits, boasting bold colors and unique geometries inspired by abstract art, so even if you can’t skate like the world’s best you can at least look like them.

JJJJound x Dr. Martens Archie II

Release Date: July 31
Release Price: TBC
Where to Buy: Dr. Martens
Why You Should Cop: The Canadian masters of minimalism at JJJJound have teamed up with Dr. Martens for two elevated takes on the Archie II shoe. Reminicent of a 1461 but with a much more trim sole, JJJJound’s Archie IIs arrive in “Dark Brown Crazy Horse” and “Black Wyoming,” the former of which was designed to represent the “contemporary creative,” the latter the “traditional creative.” If you’re looking for an elegantly tweaked classic, this is the week’s top option for you.

sacai x Nike Blazer Low “Iron Grey”

Release Date: July 31
Release Price: $120 USD
Where to Buy: Nike SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: Most of sacai and Nike’s doubled-up sneakers are very flashy and flamboyant, but the sacai x Nike Blazer Low “Iron Grey” is neither of those. In fact, it provides an elegant, refined white and gray color scheme sure to catch the eye of discerning Swoosh fans — but it still manages to add plenty of Chitose Abe’s twice-as-nice flair too.

adidas YEEZY Day 2021

Release Date: August 2 (US)/August 3 (Global)
Release Price: TBC
Where to Buy: YEEZY Supply
Why You Should Cop: Though exact details have yet to be revealed, YEEZY Day is set to occur on August 2 in the US and August 3 globally, making for a last-minute entry into this list. Information on an exact release lineup is still pending, but early rumors have drops like the YEEZY 700 V3 “Dark Glow” and YEEZY FOAM RNNR “MX Cream Clay” arriving, as well as restocks of popular silhouettes like the YEEZY BOOST 700 “Wave Runner.” One thing we know for sure: if you’re a YEEZY fan, this is not a day you want to miss.
