FKA twigs Showcases Her Swordsmanship in New "Sad Day" Music Video Directed by Hiro Murai
twigs practiced the art of Wushu for three years to prepare for the project.
FKA twigs returns with a cinematic new visual for her song “Sad Day” in collaboration with Atlanta and Barry director and cinematographer Hiro Murai. In the visual, twigs displays some serious swordsmanship skills, battling for seven straight minutes throughout multiple scenes, blending her background in dance with a warrior-like spirit.
“Sad Day” is one of the many standouts from her most recent critically-acclaimed album MAGDALENE, one of HYPEBEAST’s Top 10 Albums of 2019. In a recent press statement, FKA twigs revealed that she participated in around three years of swordsmanship training in the art of Wushu with the Master Wu of the Shaolin Wushu Centre. “Everything I’ve previously done with my body, all the training, and dancing, has led to this point,” she said of the new visual.
Earlier this year, FKA twigs showed off her dancing skills in a surprise collaboration with 645AR for “Sum Bout You”. She also teamed up with Ty Dolla $ign, Kanye West and Skrillex for “Ego Death.”
