Upcoming Game ‘Under’ Is a Horror Story Set Aboard a Sinking Ship
Check out the latest trailer.
Ever wondered what Titanic would have been like as a horror story? Wonder no more: the official trailer has been released for the upcoming video game Under, a first-person horror release set aboard a sinking ocean liner.
After an initial gameplay tease eleven months ago, this is the first full sense of what the title will involve: moving through claustrophobic corridors, avoiding hordes of fleeing rats, and encountering various supernatural phenomena along the way.
The game’s storyline will follow a shell-shocked WWI veteran, Alexander Dockter, who finds himself trapped on the sinking ship and soon realises it’s also inhabited by malicious entities. Over the course of the narrative, Dockter becomes aware of a creature stalking him through the abandoned bowels of the ship as he tries to find a means of escape.
It’s set to be reminiscent of classic atmospheric horror titles like the early Resident Evil and Silent Hill titles, as opposed to more action-led takes on the genre like The Last of Us and its sequel.
No confirmed release date has yet been announced, but the game’s publisher Rogue has confirmed that Under will be released for PC, Switch, Xbox and PlayStation. While you wait, you can download an early demo now from the title’s itch.io page.
Among the other gaming trailers released this week is the latest look at Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.
