LEGO Reveals Several New 'Super Mario Bros.' Character Packs and Expansion Sets

Nintendo and LEGO revealed the full range of its upcoming Super Mario Bros. sets, which include a starter kit, ten expansion packs, four power-up kits, and a series of blind bag characters, resulting in a grand total of $590 USD for collectors attempting to buy the entire range.

Only the starter kit, which costs $60 USD, is the kit required to make the others function properly. The starter comes with an electric Mario figure with an LED screen body, which is needed to activate the electric components of additional sets. Other expansions include the $30 USD Piranha Plant Power Slide and the $100 USD Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle, both inspired by stages in the Super Mario games announced earlier this year. Eight more expansions sets were also announced, like Mario and Yoshi’s house, a Toad’s Treasure Hunt set, as well as a pair of retailer-exclusive sets, Thwomp Drop and King Boo’s Haunted Yard between the ranges of $20 USD to $70 USD.

Mario will also come with four power-up suits based on their in-game abilities at $10 USD each. Those include Fire, Propeller, Cat, and Builder Mario. Lastly, there are 10 blind bag figures being offered at $5 USD each, which include Paragoomba, Fuzzy, Spiny, Buzzy Beetle, Bullet Bill, Bob-omb, and more.
