LEGO Offers Closer Look at Super Mario Adventures Kits
Showcasing Nintendo’s plumber in action and revealing two expansion sets.
After revealing its forthcoming Super Mario partnership, LEGO has prepared a video showcasing the kits in action. Simultaneously, the company is launching pre-orders for the special sets and revealing some expansion packages.
Jonathon Bennink, LEGO Group lead designer, walks us through the kits in the video, revealing how fans use the sets and a few interesting tidbits — for instance, the sets have been in development for four years. Bennink demonstrates how Mario traverses the Adventure “stages,” which users can customize to their taste. Digital displays on Mario’s face and stomach interact with seven corresponding panels to show how Nintendo‘s mascot is feeling about his circumstances.
The starter course, which comes with the Mario figure and Baby Bowser, offers a host of classic Mario iconography, like green pipes, rideable clouds and enemies like Goomba and Koopa. Two other expansion packs are also revealed in the clip, including a Piranha Plant slide and Bowser’s Castle, complete with the King Koopa himself. Naturally, more expansions are inevitable.
Pre-order the Super Mario Adventures’ Start Course on Lego’s website now, with the full collection launching August 1.
Most recently, Lego issued its own version of Dom’s 1970 Dodge Charger R/T from Fast & Furious.
