Drakeo The Ruler Debuts Lyric Video for "GTA VI"
From the incarcerated rapper’s ‘Thank You for Using GTL’ project.
After dropping his Thank You for Using GTL project produced entirely by collaborator JoogSZN and recorded strictly from his jail phone a cappella raps, Drakeo The Ruler returns with an animated visual for his single “GTA VI”.
The track is an honest portrayal of Drakeo listening to the jailhouse stories of his fellow inmates, talking about what they’re in for. What follows is the rapper’s disappointment at their lack of considering the true consequences. “You wanna hit him in his brain/ Then go and get a change of paint/ He think this Grand Theft Auto/ You steady actin’ like a boss/ N*gga, you only half a star/ But this ain’t Grand Theft Auto, though,” he raps in the refrain. Drakeo’s current legal situation has been well documented over the past two years, as he currently awaits deliberation from the Los Angeles District Attorney, who has since refiled and reopened the murder case for which Drakeo was already found innocent, now with the intent to keep Drakeo locked up on “gang conspiracy charges.”
The “GTA VI” visual keeps things simple. The lyric video uses Rockstar Games’ now iconic GTA font with a smoggy Los Angeles highway following free-flowing traffic. Earlier this year, The Ruler dropped off his emotional “Vintage & Adventurous” freestyle too.
