Top Dawg Entertainment artist Doechii has officially released “CATWOMAN,” the latest explosive visual installment in her ongoing Swamp Sessions series. The music video arrived on Tuesday, October 20, following the release of last week’s thunderous single “BOMBS.”
In the new video, the Swamp Princess wanders through a desert landscape wearing baggy washed denim jeans, a Tap Out waistband, and a white sports bra before being blown to pieces by a bazooka-wielding, alternate version of herself. Rocking an Afro, black denim, heels, and matching sunglasses, this second persona struts to the scene while delivering hard-hitting bars. Lyrically, the track features an homage to Busta Rhymes with a signature “woo-hah” ad-lib and name-drops Sean Connery’s James Bond, alongside claims of channeling 2Pac’s artistic tenacity.
Looking ahead to her debut album, the Grammy-winning rapper recently shared a journal entry outlining her evolving creative vision. “I spent the last few years relearning Hip-Hop as a student. Studying its language, history & roots. Now I feel inspired to contribute to evolve it,” she wrote, emphasizing a mission to center Black womanhood within both Hip-Hop and Pop. The single follows her recent collaboration with Lady Gaga on “Runway” for The Devil Wears Prada 2 soundtrack, which secured her another Billboard Hot 100 entry.
