Fresh off of the announcement that his After Hours album has spent its third consecutive week at No.1 on the Billboard 200, The Weeknd is in a celebratory mood, tapping Lil Uzi Vert for a surprise music video to the “Heartless” Remix from the After Hours (Deluxe) release.

The visual is a remix in a sense too. It is by far different in scope and aesthetic when compared to the original “Heartless” video. Dubbed the “Intermission,” the music video is an amalgamation of found footage from the After Hours world, with warped VHS filters intercut with surprising anime versions of The Weeknd displayed prominently throughout. Whether this comes from Lil Uzi Vert’s appearance on the track or the Eternal Atake rapper’s requests remains to be seen.

“Heartless (Intermission)” is the most recent in a long list of visual rollouts from The Weeknd for his new project. Just last week, he dropped what at the time appeared to be the final chapter of his episodic After Hours journey with “Until I Bleed Out”. There were even some nice callbacks to his House of Balloons era thrown in there for good measure.

He veered off course with a surreal and horrific slasher film-inspired “In Your Eyes” featuring a decapitation. Other offerings include the After Hours short film and the ever-chaotic “Blinding Lights”.
