In November 2019, GORE-TEX kicked off its ongoing “Selected Memories of Functionality” series with stylist Stephan Mann, highlighting a host of his favorite GORE-TEX-infused garments. For the second edition, GORE-TEX brought on Futura, who showcased a dozen items both functional and fashionable, along with a selection of his own collaborative GORE-TEX goods.

The artist’s Futura Laboratories imprint has been plenty busy with recent fashion collaborations, but made time to remix a GORE-TEX boiler suit, poncho and Vibram-soled sneakers. The latter is a friends-and-family-only offering, informed by with strappy closure, Futura’s signature “Pointman” detailing (realized as simple arrows) and a retro, chunky shape. Futura’s accompanying weatherproof poncho — limited to 400 editions — boasts similar grid and arrow detailing, but the exhibit’s centerpiece was four boiler suits; GORE-TEX coveralls designed exclusively for the event, each elevated by Futura’s illustrative signature and art.

This year’s “Selected Memories of Functionality” exhibit includes 12 distinctive GORE-TEX offerings, from in all manor of street-friendly styles. Items include an Off-White™ x GORE-TEX jacket, Junya Watanabe’s transformable PORTER jacket, Slam Jam x Converse sneakers designed by Cali Thornhill DeWitt, and more. Each of the 12 items reflects Futura’s personal tastes and needs, including a Burton snowboard jacket that references the original garment that sparked his interest in clothing.
