Pearl City Share Ethereal Avant-Pop in 'Gold Metal Money' EP
Also dropping a new GRANDMAS-directed music video for “Friends.”
Earlier this year, avant-pop duo Pearl City made an exceedingly well-articulated return with their single “Down By The Tree,” recruiting acclaimed directors GRANDMAS for a troubling cinematic tour de force. Now the duo has returned with their debut EP, Gold Metal Money, bringing the directors on board once again for another breath-taking “Friends” visual.
The new EP stays true to Pearl City’s idiosyncratic sound, aptly melding synth and percussion-heavy instrumentals with vocalist Greta Edith’s distinct voice. The video maintains the focus on off-kilter themes, offering a day-in-the-life vibe that sees friends hitting the arcade to female bodybuilders competing on stage.
You can watch the visual for “Friends” above, and listen to the entire Gold Metal Money EP below.
For more music releases, The Cool Kids and Alchemist just dropped their Layups EP.
