Vince Staples, 6LACK & Mereba Unite for New 'Queen & Slim' Track "Yo Love"
The film’s soundtrack receives another high-profile single.
Last month, EarthGang and Tiana Major9 linked up for “Collide,” a new single in support of the official soundtrack for Melina Matsoukas and Lena Waithe’s forthcoming “romantic thriller” Queen & Slim. Now, for the follow-up to that project’s lead single, Vince Staples, 6LACK and Mereba are coming together for another high-profile collaboration off the new Queen & Slim soundtrack, the Leken Taylor-produced “Yo Love.”
“I had such an epiphany about myself as a Black woman, about the things I can do if I was willing to, in the words of Nipsey, just run the marathon instead of just sprinting,” Mereba shared with us earlier this year, opening up about “her duality as an African American and Ethiopian woman in America” for a July edition of our Conversations With series. “If I was willing to take the time and the energy to do something bigger than myself, I can be a reflection of those people that I have found.”
“I barely ate, I didn’t take care of myself a lot of didn’t ways,” Mereba added, sharing some insight into the creative process and studio sessions that birthed her most recent full-length release, The Jungle Is the Only Way Out. Notably, 6LACK and Mereba also connected for a single in support of that LP, “Heatwave.” “All that was keeping me going was knowing that I have that safe space that I can go back to.”

Melina Matsoukas’ directorial debut, Queen & Slim, will hit theaters on November 27; its accompanying soundtrack, Queen & Slim: The Soundtrack, will land on streaming services and similar platforms on November 15.
