Following up on the Big Bang Sang Bleu timepiece launched in 2016, Swiss horologists Hublot unveils its latest collaboration with pioneering tattoo studio Sang Bleu. Eschewing the idea of tattoo work as an imprecise art form, Hublot’s designs champion the aesthetic philosophy of Sang Bleu, with geometrically perfect shapes and lines forming the foundation of a device.

“[Geometry] carries value, ideas and messages through time and space, and thus unifies humankind in itself as an ultimate manifestation of the Human Mind,” explains tattoo artist and Sang Bleu founder Maxime Plescia-Buchi.

The latest design, the Big Bang Sang Bleu II, taps into the design skills of Buchi, exploring how geometry is the universal expression of an abstracted and systematized view of the world. The watch features a case with more finely-chiselled lines, communicated in three dimensions. The geometric designs cut into the hexagonal bezel, carving into the sapphire crystal and juxtaposed against the hands. Beneath the interlaced geometric lines of the new case sits the HUB1240 Unico manufacture self-winding chronograph movement, a mechanism that oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations an hour.

The Big Bang Sang Bleu II is now available at HUBLOT boutiques.
