visvim's 'Subsequence' Magazine Launches Second Volume
“The Unforgettable Issue” touches on topics like hand-knit mittens and artisinal ceramics.
Produced by visvim‘s Cubism Inc., Subsequence is an infrequently-published limited-run magazine dedicated to hands-on craft from around the globe. Published in both English and Japanese, “The Unforgettable Issue” includes a disparate group of contributors with content that focuses on thoughtful craft sourced from regions as diverse as California, Japan and Norway.
Stylist Stephen Mann, architect Kyohei Sakaguchi, cartoonist Tokushige Kawakatsu and visvim/WMV creative directors Hiroki and Kelsi Nakamura provide content for Vol. 2, with a cover story dubbed “Returning to an Unforgettable Home” that includes six creatives showcasing their distinctive living spaces. Other features include a look at katazome artist Takeshi Yamauchi’s Noren curtains, the Sámi people’s handknit mittens, Kanako NIshi’s short story “Character Costumes,” and longform essays from influential musicians Haruomi Hosono and Teruoki Mishina, among others.
Subsequence Vol. 2 is available on Subsequence’s website and via stockists like KITH and HAVEN with an MSRP of $60 USD.
visvim recently issued a series of seasonal goods, including patchwork bandana shirts and suede moccasin shoes.
