Rich Brian Opens up About Calorie-Counting, Garlic & Eating on Tour for 'Essentials'
The popular rapper also knows his way around the kitchen.
Last month, Rich Brian appeared on 88rising’s second group studio album, Head in the Clouds II. During the young rapper’s promotional run in support of that project, we caught up with him for the latest entry in our Essentials series. During our conversation, Rich Brian opened up to us about his cooking skills, eating while touring and revealed the tools and spices that are essential to his work in the kitchen.
“How I started cooking was, I used to count calories … I got fat, and then I was like, ‘this is bad.’ So I got to count calories and I did. The best way to do it is if you cook your own food,” Rich Brian explains to us. “My diet right now is, I just eat whatever I want … I eat a lot of rice. I got a rice cooker, so I eat rice with everything, just because that’s kind of how I grew up.”
“It’s really hard to cook on tour,” Rich Brian adds. “Tour food — not very good. And I don’t eat as much on tour, because the schedule’s insane and most of the time I’m just not really hungry.”
