Shortly after receiving a release date for the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel, we are now learning the upcoming movie will feature Marvel fan-favorite Japanese Spider-Man.

Receiving a tweet from a fan that asks if they could design Japanese Spider-Man for Into the Spider-Verse 2, producer Phil Lord unexpected replied simply with “He’s designed!” If Lord is series we will be seeing an on-screen incarnation of the live-action version Toei created back in 1978. For those unfamiliar with the hero, the Japanese Spider-Man series ran for 41 episodes ending in 1979 and was centered around motorcycle racer Takuya Yamashiro who gains his spider powers after witnessing the crash landing of a UFO named the Marveller.

Stay tuned for more details.
