Following news of a sequel and spin-off project, Sony Pictures has now announced an official release date for the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel. After grossing $375.5 million USD worldwide and picking up the Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Awards, the story of Miles Morales picking up the Spider-Man mantle following the death of Peter Parker is set to continue on the big screen.
Picking up after the 2018 film, Miles will continue to try to balance his life teenage life and superhero persona, with a new threat looming which will presumably require the help of Spider heroes from different dimensions. Although not much is known about the follow-up, Sony Pictures is bringing back Phil Lord and Christopher Miller to hopefully create another critically and commercially lauded box office release centered around the Marvel hero.
Catch the announcement below and look for the sequel for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to hit theatres April 8, 2022. Stay tuned for more details.
