Jordan Brand Nods to Famous 1985 Commercial With Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG "Bloodline"
Releasing on Black Friday.
Jordan Brand has big plans for the ultra-popular Air Jordan 1 during the holiday season, and one piece of the multi-shoe puzzle is the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Bloodline.” Featuring a reimagined take on a familiar color scheme and inspired by a famous Air Jordan ad from 1985 that showed Michael Jordan soaring through the air for a death-defying dunk, the “Bloodline” is a fresh nod to an early piece of brand history.
The design is centered around a recognizable mix of white, black and red, with the upper constructed of a pliable tumbled leather. The toebox, quarter and throat are dressed in a stark white, with a murky black appearing on the overlays, midfoot Swoosh, mudguard and collar. This effective yin and yang is given new life by a plentiful helping of red piping and trim that surrounds the borders of each and every piece, seemingly adding an extra layer to the classic style.
However, the embellishment that gives the shoe its nom de guerre is somewhat concealed. It’s present on the insole, which states “Who said man was not meant to fly” in bold red block letters for a direct call out to the tagline of the ad that inspired the design. A white midsole and red outsole finalize the look.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Bloodline” will release via Nike SNKRS on November 29 — Black Friday. The MSRP is set at $160 USD.
