From runways and billboards to auction houses and courtrooms, this week in fashion had much to offer (for better or for worse). Among the notable headlines, the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode announced that Pharrell will reveal his hotly-anticipated debut collection for Louis Vuitton on the opening night of Paris Fashion Week Men’s. Meanwhile, as the industry awaits the next era in LV’s menswear, the brand, like several others this week, unveiled its Resort 2024 collection — this time, on a small island known as Isola Bella.

Meanwhile, Gap sued Ye for $2 million USD, claiming that he’s responsible for unapproved changes to a Los Angeles rental property, marking just the latest advancement in the complications of their once-supported, now-failing partnership. On more celebratory notes, Mia Khalifa became the latest face of Heaven by Marc Jacobs, adding yet another campaign-starring stint to her resume; the CFDA and Sotheby’s partnered on an exclusive auction of rare American fashion finds, and Saint Laurent announced plans to show its next menswear collection in Berlin.

Below, Hypebeast has rounded up the top fashion stories of the week so you can stay up to date on trends in the industry.

Pharrell’s Debut Louis Vuitton Collection Will Open Paris Men’s Fashion Week

Pharrell will present his debut collection for Louis Vuitton at 8:30 p.m. on the opening day of Paris Men’s Fashion Week (June 20), according to the provisional calendar shared by the governing body for the French fashion industry, Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode.

Notably, the runway is scheduled two days prior to Vuitton’s usual Thursday slot on the men’s calendar. Pharrell’s debut will be among the most-anticipated events during the French Fashion Week, which is scheduled to run from June 20 to 25 with 43 shows and 38 presentations.

Gap Sued Ye for $2 Million USD Over Failed Collaboration

Gap has officially filed a lawsuit against Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, for $2 million USD.

According to the New York Post, Gap alleges Ye “made unapproved changes to a Los Angeles rental property the landlord is trying to collect on.” Per court documents, the company filed the complaint against Ye last month, claiming that the leased building’s owner, Art City Center, sued Gap last year for “damages.” Art City Center stated that there were several architectural alterations made to the space, including the erection of an exterior ramp, a tunnel and a new wall, as well as the removal of lights.

Additionally, Gap stated that “by making and not repairing or restoring the foregoing alterations of the premises that [West] made without Gap’s participation or approval, [West] breached the strategic agreement and directly and proximately caused Gap to incur expenses to repair and restore the premises.”

Ludovic de Saint Sernin Exited Ann Demeulemeester

Earlier this week, Ludovic de Saint Sernin exited his role as creative director at Ann Demeulemeester, after just one season with the brand.

The Parisian designer was named the label’s creative director in late 2022, and he later debuted his first collection under the Demeulemeester banner in March for Fall/Winter 2023. The line, which included 36 looks, nodded to the namesake designer’s archives with reinterpretations that were signature to de Saint Sernin’s own codes.

Leading Luxury Labels Debuted Global Resort Shows

This week, several leading fashion houses unveiled their latest resort collections at unique destinations across the globe. Among them, Nicolas Ghesquière took Louis Vuitton to Isola Bella, a small island in Lake Maggiore that previously operated under the Borromeo family name. There, the designer let loose a Resort 2024 collection define by mythical underwater dreams and ethereal tailoring.

“We started with the idea that the girls were coming from the water, like mermaids of the lake, and they’re transforming to something else,” Ghesquière said.

Meanwhile, Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri touched down in Mexico City to debut the French House’s Resort 2024 collection, which was inspired by the brand’s first journey to Mexico in 1954. On the runway, Chiuri nodded to the country’s female crafters and local artists through a bevy of romantic ensembles highlighting the traditional design practices and textile creations of Mexico.

Mia Khalifa Became the Latest Face of Heaven by Marc Jacobs

After musing with the likes of Ice Spice, Liv Tyler and Michèle Lamy, Heaven by Marc Jacobs revealed its latest famous face to be Mia Khalifa.

Starring in the brand’s latest campaign, Khalifa flaunts the cult label’s signature styles, including the Daisy Tank dress, the Daisy Lone Star bustier, Razor Blade earrings, the Star crochet dress, a knit Rainbow Bridge top and the label’s already-popular Margaret platform boots, among many other items.

While Khalifa sports the looks with ease, it’s worth noting that the brand’s designs are highly versatile, with genderless tailoring at the fore. See the full campaign here, and shop the collection online now.

CFDA and Sotheby’s Will Host an Exclusive Auction of Rare American Fashion Pieces

Sotheby’s and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) are joining forces on an exclusive auction of rare American fashion pieces, according to WWD. Marking their first partnership, the bidding sale will feature highly-coveted looks from top American designers, sourced from the CFDA’s more-than-500-strong membership pool and avid American fashion collectors alike.

Working with an unnamed curator to build out the auction lots, Sotheby’s CFDA exhibition will spotlight pivotal moments in American fashion, particularly eras and genres that have contributed to the region’s global influence.

Sotheby’s will host the auction from November 27 through December 12, in tandem with the fine marketplace’s Luxury Week sale in New York City. It is unknown whether there will be a live auction, though it has been confirmed that the sale will include an online bidding format.

Saint Laurent’s Next Menswear Show Will Take Place at Berlin’s Neue Nationalgalerie

Anthony Vaccarello will take his next Saint Laurent menswear show on the road. After staging a runway in the Marrakech desert last year, the French fashion house will take to the streets of Berlin for its next installment, this summer.

On June 12, Saint Laurent will take over the Neue Nationalgalerie in the German capital city, which has previously hosted runway shows for the likes of Giorgio Armani and Hugo Boss. The museum, which houses a vast assortment of 20th-century artwork, underwent a five-year renovation from David Chipperfield and reopened in 2021 with a modern feel.
