As a fashion designer, Mimi Plange founded her own label that focuses on celebrating African cultures and its storytelling through American sportswear garments. And her imitable perspective has earned her the opportunity to work with Nike and LeBron James on special footwear collaborations atop the LeBron 18 Low. After releasing her “Higher Learning” and “Daughters” colorways in 2021, Plange has been summoned back by the Swoosh to piece together two more iterations titled “Mad King” and “Scarred Perfection,” both of which have been officially announced.

Through the “Mad King” offering, a colorful ensemble touches down across the upper half as it pays homage to the Bantu people — a family comprised of over 400 ethnic groups in Africa and their writing symbols. The icons pasted across the base layer are emblematic of wisdom, unity, greatness and the future. The Lion logo nods to the four-time champion while the color presentation are symbolic of earth, sky forest and water.

Its release sibling — the “Scarred Perfection” rendition — is inspired by the contrasting nature of individuality and tribalism. Intricate embroidery floods nearly every inch of the top layer while vivid accents of purple, orange, lavender and green nod to the African body adornment and identity.

The Mimi Plange x Nike LeBron 18 Low collection will be available on October 14, 2022 exclusively via Mimi Plange.

For other news, the Nike Air Max Scorpion has been officially unveiled.
