Knxwledge Brings Positive Vibes With New 'WT.PRT.16' Release
“PROTEKT ALL QUEENS.”
Knxwledge is honoring female emcees with a message of “protect all queens” with his latest project WT.PRT.16, released today exclusively via Bandcamp. Most of the verses on the tape are from prominent and underground women vocalists, each remixed through his signature sound of obscure vinyl samples and dusty loops.
There’s even a candid moment where he shows the track “thenleave” to his grandmother through his car speakers (she’s not a fan of the explicit verse). You can watch the full reaction above. Knxwledge premiered the upcoming mixtape with “dfwu,” an edit of a Megan Thee Stallion freestyle on a local Los Angeles radio station. Other standouts include “icemeout” and “flomillisht.”
Earlier this year, the 32-year-old producer, real name Glen Booth, released his second Stones Throw full-length offering in 1988. In HYPEBEAST’s “Knxwledge Can’t Stop Working” feature, he talked about the prolific nature of his workflow saying, “I always go with the feeling. Like I don’t really spend too much time on a track. It’s either getting saved or it’s not. But good ones that sound good now, they might not sound good in the morning.”
Knxwledge has also dropped off recent work like 10,000 Proof and Koko EP and furthered his ongoing Meek Mill remix series with MEEK.VOL5 and MEEK.VOL6. He was a staple in HYPEBEAST’s “20 Best Albums to Listen to While Staying Home”.
Stream the full project below and purchase on Bandcamp today. The streaming service is currently supporting artists impacted by COVID-19 through its Bandcamp Fridays in which the company waves its revenue share for all profits to go directly to artists. It’s held on the first Friday of every month until the end of the year including this coming Friday, August 7.
