'Call of Duty' Season 5 Trailer Is Now Live, Shows Stadium Destroyed
Along with trains, building ascension wires, and a slew of new multiplayer maps.
Call of Duty is getting its latest revamp in the form of of its fifth season, which introduces two large revisions to its Verdansk Warzone map, along with a selection of new locales for multiplayer as well.
As shown in the newly-released trailer, Season 5’s key highlight is the revision to Verdansk’s stadium, which often found players camping on its exterior upper shell. The shell remains but now the central roof has been removed, allowing players to enter and battle within the stadium location. This edit will inherently open teams to multiple strategies for campers, position holders, Most Wanted contract survivors and more.
In addition to the core change to Verdansk, the trailer also shows off the new traveling train that snakes its way through the map. The locomotive is said to house loot boxes and provide a new dynamic to players who prefer to keep mobile while still remaining offensive. The train also appears to have tanks aboard, but no clues yet on if these tanks can be driven during a BR match.
Additionally, external ascension wires are also previewed in the clip, again changing the dynamic for the Downtown area and its rooftop snipers.
Multiplayer fans will find a selection of new maps as well in the circulation: Suldal Harbor and Petrov Oil Rig give players a medium-sized map for skirmishes, while Livestock — a representation of Verdansk’s Farmland — is a close quarter Gunfight arena. The open-area Verdansk airport location will also come as a new map, for Ground War servers exclusively.
Lastly, as teased last week, a new faction known as the Shadow Company will make its way into the game, giving new skins, gestures, and finishing moves — including one which uses a crow for its attack — for players to download and consume.
Call of Duty Season 5 begins on August 5 for XBox One, PlayStation 5, and PC players. In other FPS shooter news, Halo Infinite‘s multiplayer will reportedly be free-to-play.
