Juice WRLD's Animated "Wishing Well" Video Reflects Hardships of Fame and Drug Use
The artist speaks his heart out in this important, self-reflective track.
The new video for Juice WRLD‘s song “Wishing Well” has surfaced. The track comes from the artist’s recently released posthumous album Legends Never Die and is produced by Dr. Luke and ChopsquadDJ. For the visual, Juice is presented as an animated character where his environment reflects the struggles he’s dealing with in relation to fame and drug use. The video is filled with emojis signaling some of his emotions as he navigates his feelings by making phone calls for help, talking to a psychiatrist (as himself) and coping with his demons through substance use.
The video and the lyrics are a deep reality check to what Juice WRLD has gone through. A part of one of his verses goes, “Ring-ring, phone call from depression/ You used my past and my memories as a weapon/ On the other line, I talk to addiction, huh/ Speaking of the devil, all the drugs, I miss them.” “Wishing well” is a metaphor for his deep desire to be free from his demons and the constant cycle of drugs and depression. Juice WRLD tragically took his life on December 8th, 2019, from a codeine and oxycodone overdose.
His latest album Legends Never Die is out now if you still haven’t had the chance to listen to it.
