Following partnerships in 2016 and 2018, Steiff and fragment design are back together for a new collaborative collectible. Almost simultaneously, the Hiroshi Fujiwara-led creative imprint teased another joint effort with a surprising partner: G-Dragon’s PEACEMINUSONE.
The Steiff teddy bear is a little less morbid than 2018’s “bearskin” rug though it is an unconventional twist on the normally cute Steiff signature. The resulting critter sports all black fur with red eyes and a silver fragment design emblem at its chest, complete with an authenticity tag and attached clip for easy keychain attachment.
Meanwhile, fragment’s PEACEMINUSONE collaboration is much more mysterious though it apparently involves a different kind of clip. As seen on Fujiwara’s Instagram page, three binder clips feature a trio of recognizable logos: fragment’s lightning bolt, THE CONVENI and PEACEMINUSONE’s text branding. If the partnership is set to involve Fujiwara’s CONVENI outpost, expect the resulting items to include graphic T-shirts and perhaps a novelty collectible; this may be where the binder clips come in.
No word yet on when the PEACEMINUSONE partnership will materialize but the fragment x Steiff keychain teddy will be up for pre-order at Dover Street Market Ginza and Steiff’s Aoyama store later this summer in an exclusive edition of 1,500, retailing for ¥15,000 JPY (approximately $140 USD) apiece.
Most recently, PEACEMINUSONE offered an early peek at its forthcoming Nike Air Force 1 “Para-Noise Part 2.”
