CURLY's Functional Wares Highlighted in Moody, Isolated FW20 Editorial
A socially distant representation of the Japanese brand’s latest items.
Craft-centric label CURLY offered its Fall/Winter 2020 lookbook in January, which feels a lifetime away by now. As a reflection of mid-pandemic society, the Japanese brand has offered a new look at its latest designs, lavishly photographed in isolation.
Accessible shapes are key to CURLY’s design ethos, as evidenced in the collection’s trim coaches jackets, quilted bombers, band collar shirts and cropped jeans that fortify the label’s preference for cuts that flatter the body. Parkas and anoraks are weather resistant and insulating, while leather flight jackets and woven wool tailoring make up for a lack of waterproofing with unmistakable quality. Splashes of tie-dye, abstract camouflage, bold plaid and muted houndstooth provide flair to the otherwise understated palette, which leans into grey, navy, cream and black for maximum versatility.
