Guapdad 4000 Enlists Isaiah Rashad for Latest "RONA RAPS" Cypher
The eleventh installment of his YouTube freestyle series.
Guapdad 4000 has teamed up with Isaiah Rashad for the latest installment of his “RONA RAPS” cypher, with both artists showcasing their rapping skills over a classic instrumental.
With the eleventh installment, the rappers each freestyled over Erykah Badu‘s “On & On” from the comfort of their own homes. The “RONA RAPS” video series, created by Guapdad himself, was formed during the coronavirus quarantine as a means of entertainment for his fans. “Since we are all locked up in the house dealing with this very serious but very shitty situation with the scare, I wanted to rap w/ my friends and entertain you guys,” Guapdad said. “So each week I’ll have a different artist friend or 2 or 3 hop on the same beat as me, selfie-style and rap. And then imma post em here.”
Previous installments of the series have seen lyricists like Joey Bada$$, Curren$y, Denzel Curry, Wiz Khalifa, and more appear. Four years following his previous album, Rashad recently returned with a new single called “Why Worry.” Although fans expect a new project from the TDE artist in 2020, there have been many obstacles preventing that from happening sooner. “You realize how critically-acclaimed don’t mean s–t,” the 25-year-old told Billboard after overcoming his struggles with drug addiction.
“It’s tight if you bounce back with something. If you don’t, you’re just a talented young n—a. I’m just a talented young n—a, at least that’s how it felt since I haven’t put nothing out since [Cilvia Demo in 2014], except like three songs,” he added. “In reality, for me, if things would have went exactly how I wanted them to go, it still would have happened. It would have been similar, but the things in between wouldn’t have been the same.”
