Weezer Pays Tribute to Coronavirus Frontline Workers With "Hero" Music Video
Featuring a heartfelt letter penned by Rivers Cuomo.
Weezer returns with a new music video and single titled “Hero” from their forthcoming fourteenth studio album Van Weezer, initially slated to release this month but pushed back to a date yet to be announced due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The new offering follows the legendary group’s “The End of the Game” single and coinciding video game. The new music video pays tribute to the frontline workers during the current pandemic with Rivers Cuomo breaking the fourth wall and passing friends and family members his heartfelt letter to the first responders (which you can read below).
“This one is for the stay at home dreamers, the zoom graduators, the sourdough bakers, and the essential workers,” the band announced in the YouTube caption. Weezer had originally planned to continue their ‘Hella Mega Tour’ with Green Day and Fall Out Boy this year in a new European leg, but announced postponements and cancellations last month.
