Jamie xx Returns With New Visual for "Idontknow"
Starring Irish dancer and choreographer Oona Doherty.
Following the release of his first BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix in over nine-years, British electronic producer Jamie xx returned with his first single in a half-decade, “Idontknow” after it was teased throughout last year during DJ Sets by Four Tet and Caribou. Now he’s back with a new music video for the single.
The xx member released his first solo track since his 2015 debut album, In Colour after recent work alongside Headie One and Fred again… on their collaborative project, GANG. The “Idontknow” visual stars Belfast dancer and choreographer Oona Doherty, who also co-directed the film alongside Luca Truffarelli. The video was filmed in Belfast in March 2020 just hours before Northern Ireland went into lockdown due to the coronavirus.
The video appears to be shot in a single take with Oona’s incredible choreography highlighted by dim street lights. She stops to respond to a text thread, gets emotional and then continues dancing the pain away once more. Watch Jamie xx’s “Idontknow” above and stream the track below.
