Renowned electronic producer, DJ, and The xx member Jamie xx has returned with his first solo track in five years. Titled “Idontknow,” its the first new single from the English musician since his 2015 debut solo album, In Colour. The track comes after his recent work alongside Headie One and Fred again.. on their collaborative mixtape, GANG.

“Idontknow” was initially teased during DJ sets from Four Tet and Caribou earlier this year, as well as Jamie’s own NTS radio show. Tuning up his sound to 160 BPM, the track is a cluttered, percussion-filled thumper, building atop a variety of heavily-warped vocal samples and ambient synth pads as the track unfolds.

“I made ‘Idontknow’ as an outlet for my frustration over not being able to finish any music for a while,” Jamie xx shared about the track in an Instagram post. “I tried to be less precious with my ideas and just let go. I then watched this translate onto the dance floor when I started playing it out last year. Now, we can’t go out to dance and we need an outlet more than ever, I hope you dance to it at home and let go for a moment.”

You can stream “Idontknow” below.
