The Latest 'The Last of Us Part II' Story Trailer Features Ellie out for Revenge
The story moves from the threat of Infected to the threat of humans.
Naughty Dog has released the official story trailer for its upcoming title The Last of Us Part II as its release date slowly approaches. The trailer above opens with Joel and Ellie roughly around the same age as they were in the original game.
Although this particular scene between them is never shown in the original, it appears to take place around that same time. As such, many suspect there will be flashback scenes that harken back to the aftermath of the first game. Time then pushes forward five years to their present-day showing a withered Joel and a teenage Ellie. It appears Ellie will be focused more on human conflict than with the Infected, as she appears more hardened than we’ve previously seen her, and leading the charge against another group of people.
The title has recently suffered a second delay and a subsequent leak of all its story details, including cutscenes. At the time of the leak, Naughty Dog released a statement saying “The Last of Us Part II will be in your hands soon. No matter what you see and hear, the final experience will be worth it.”
The Last of Us Part II will be released on June 19. In a blog post that coincides with the release of the trailer, the director of The Last of Us Part II confirmed pre-orders for the game are back up for both digital and physical copies. However, physical copies may not be available in specific regions and retailers.
In other gaming news, NeatherRealm Studios has announced Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath DLC.
With launch just over a month away, we’re excited to share another glimpse into The Last of Us Part II with our new story trailer.
