adidas Serves Up Festive NMD R1 V2 "Mexico City"
The first installment in the Trefoil’s new “United By Sneakers” collection.

adidas Originals and Foot Locker have teamed up for a new NMD R1 V2 “Mexico City.” With colorblocking and embellishments inspired by Mexico’s flag and capital, these dashing NMDs are set to kick off adidas‘s new “United By Sneakers” collection, an assemblage of silhouettes inspired by popular locales around the globe.
Originally announced on Cinco De Mayo, the “Mexico City” uses a stark white mesh upper with just a touch of black on the midfoot’s Three Stripe detail. Tongues provide the upper’s most noticeable piece with a gradient fade badge that shifts from green to white and then to red, the same trifecta of tones present on the Mexican flag. This is overlaid with a metallic gold Trefoil stamp, and the heel tabs offer a text hit that reads “The Brand with the Three Stripes” in Spanish.
Down below, full-foot BOOST midsoles are split between green on the forefoot and red on the heel for even more Mexican flag-inspired style. Both EVA foam bricks are done up in white — the rear brick is left unadorned, while the front brick states “Ciudad de Mexico” (Mexico City) in green text. White rubber outsoles complete the look.
The adidas NMD R1 V2 “Mexico City” is set to release through the Foot Locker family of stores later this summer, and will retail for $140 USD.
