Weezer Unveils Details for Upcoming Album 'Van Weezer'
With visuals for “The End of the Game.”
L.A.-based rock band Weezer has been quite busy lately. After dropping The Black Album in Febuary, the band announced plans to drop two more albums, Van Weezer and Okay Human, marking the 14th and 15th album in its discography. The latest details for Van Weezer have been revealed while offering up a brand new single titled “The End of the Game,” accompanied by rich new visuals.
“The End of the Game” will be on Van Weezer. Produced by Suzy Shinn, the track clocks in a little past the three-minute mark and is imbued with distorted power chords, loud riffs and Rivers Cuomo’s distinctive vocals – all the familiar ingredients to a good Weezer track. According to Cuomo in recent interviews, the album will be focused on going “back to big guitars” and will be “Blue Album-ish, but a little more riffy.” Cuomo goes on to mention that “the inspiration came from our live shows, where, in the middle of ‘Beverly Hills,’ unlike on the album, everything stops and I just break out with this crazy guitar solo. We noticed that, recently, the crowd just goes crazy when I do that. So it feels like maybe the audience is ready for some shredding again.” Van Weezer is slated to release on May 15, 2020 with Atlantic Records, two months before the band is scheduled to go on its “Hella Mega Tour” with Green Day and Fall Out Boy.
