JPEGMAFIA has returned with episode 10 of his in-depth How To Build A Relationship series with a revealing interview between him and Ariel Pink.

The 20-minute video follows Peggy’s recent collaboration with Denzel Curry for his “BALD! (Remix)” which may go down as the best feature verse of the year thus far. JPEGMAFIA continues to be as honest as ever, talking about his creative process and how he first broke out with his 2018 project Veteran. He details people’s misconceptions of him and his experimentation.

“I rather be a n*gga with versatility than just another n*gga yelling. I appreciate that kind of style but it’s just like — I don’t want that to be the entire idea of me,” he said during the episode’s opening.

The rapper continues:

“I’ve just been a guy that’s always making music. I don’t think of it as my old style or this style, it’s just a style I was doing at the time. When people discovered me with Veteran, that was just some sh*t I was doing at the time. I was doing sh*t for years and years and years. It’s just a style. I’m trying to be more versatile because I like to adapt and evolve. I love music and I don’t like to stay stagnant… I got ADHD man, I can’t pay attention to sh*t. You can hear it with those beats, that’s what my brain sounds like.”

The ongoing HTBAR series follows his full-length album All My Heroes Are Cornballs, an 18-track affair that found JPEGMAFIA continue to be jarringly original. He’s been at his most prolific during the coronavirus quarantines too, releasing a steady stream of independent singles including “BODYGUARD!”, “Millennium Freestyle,” “Covered In Money!” and “BALD!”.
