Snoop Dogg Drops New Visual for His Quarantine-Themed "I Wanna Go Outside"
“We gone take our time, ain’t no need to rush, we’ll be back in the sun.”
A week after challenging JAY-Z to a VERZUZ Battle comparing their respective greatest hits, West Coast hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg has returned with a new quarantine-themed ballad titled “I Wanna Go Outside” complete with an accompanying music video.
The visual showcases Snoop as an ambassador to his neighborhood in the pre-coronavirus world, tapping in with neighbors, running his youth football league and collaborating with other artists like Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh. “I Wanna Go Outside” also showcases the legendary rapper cooped up in his mansion playing basketball, paying tribute to Kobe Bryant and getting in extra runs of Madden. The Soopafly-produced beat pulls heavily from vintage G-funk with some added vocoder thrown in for added nostalgia’s sake. It’s an upbeat anthem that showcases some solidarity during the current quarantines as Snoop sings in heavy autotune, “We gone take our time, ain’t no need to rush/ we’ll be back in the sun… It’s better to be safe than sorry.”
