Boldy James and The Alchemist Drop New "Slow Roll" Music Video
‘The Price of Tea In China’ visual output continues with a trip to the carwash.
Boldy James and The Alchemist followed up their Boldface EP from Christmas Eve 2019 with one of this year’s finest rap albums, The Price of Tea In China. The 12-track 48-minute offering showcased the Detroit rap veteran’s visceral depiction of street-life with bars that you need to unpack through multiple listens. His chemistry with The Alchemist has never been more on-point. Today the duo returns with the new “Slow Roll” visual.
The Jason Goldwatch-directed music video is simple enough: Boldy is in a literal slow-roll, counting money while his coupe gets washed in neon lights and suds at a carwash. The real focus here, outside of the saturated fluorescent lighting, is Boldy’s delivery. “When my doc’ write, look like scribble-scratch/ Straight drop got a n*gga block slappin’ like a pitty-pat/ Stuff a b*tch with a thousand Xanax in a jimmy hat/ Hothead with a heated temper, quick to Windex a n*gga fitted cap,” he raps.
“Slow Roll” follows the “Grey October” music video featuring an introspective appearance by Evidence, the LONEWOLF-directed “Surf & Turf” visual starring Vince Staples and “Scrape the Bowl” with Benny The Butcher.
