Boldy James & The Alchemist Tap Evidence for "Grey October" Music Video
Another standout from his ‘The Price of Tea In China’ project.
Boldy James and The Alchemist connected to create one of 2020’s earliest must-listen-to projects with The Price of Tea in China, a 12-track, 48-minute offering so polished and concise that not a moment was wasted between the Detroit veteran’s lyricism and Alan The Chemist’s golden-era hip-hop samples.
The duo debuted the album with “Scrape the Bowl” featuring Benny The Butcher and then followed up with the “Surf & Turf” visual featuring Vince Staples.
Today, The Alchemist taps longtime collaborator Evidence for a guest verse on “Grey October.” The lo-fi Stephen Vanasco visual obscures Boldy’s face throughout his bars with a series of out-of-focus and dimly lit shots, all while the Detroit veteran waxes poetic about his days being involved in the drug trade. The visual may even hint at a New Era x Boldy Detroit Tigers collaboration with a quick half-second shot. Evidence’s introspective feature is among the project’s best, too.
